This Taco Cheese Ball is the ultimate crowd-pleaser, combining creamy cream cheese, zesty taco seasoning, and spicy jalapeños, all wrapped in a crunchy tortilla chip coating. It’s the perfect appetizer for any party, game day, or casual gathering. Easy to make ahead and guaranteed to be a hit, this cheesy dip is both flavorful and fun to serve with chips or veggies.

  • Total Time: 4 hours 15 minutes
  • Yield: 8-10 servings

Ingredients

16 oz full-fat cream cheese, softened

2 tablespoons taco seasoning (homemade or store-bought)

1 jalapeño, seeded and finely diced

1/4 cup black olives, finely chopped

1/2 cup shredded cheddar cheese (optional)

1 cup crushed tortilla chips (or crushed Doritos for variation)

Fresh shredded lettuce (for garnish)

Cherry tomatoes, halved (for garnish)

Instructions

  • In a large bowl, combine softened cream cheese, taco seasoning, jalapeños, black olives, and shredded cheese (if using). Mix until well blended.

  • Line a medium bowl with plastic wrap. Scoop the cheese mixture into the center and use the wrap to form it into a smooth ball shape.

  • Chill the wrapped cheese ball in the refrigerator for at least 4 hours, or overnight for best flavor.

  • Just before serving, remove the plastic wrap and roll the cheese ball in crushed tortilla chips until fully coated.

  • Place the cheese ball on a serving plate. Garnish the base with fresh shredded lettuce and halved cherry tomatoes for color and freshness.

  • Serve with tortilla chips, crackers, or fresh veggie sticks like celery and bell pepper strips.

Notes

Add more heat: Add extra jalapeños, hot sauce, or diced green chilies for a spicier version.

Cheese swap: Try using pepper jack cheese or a Mexican cheese blend for a different flavor.

Taco toppings: Garnish with diced tomatoes, onions, or sour cream to enhance the taco flavor.
