Crispy, cheesy, and full of flavor, these Onion Ring Chips are a baked twist on classic onion rings. Made with thinly sliced onions and golden Parmesan cheese, they deliver all the crunch without the carbs—perfect for snacking, parties, or a low-carb side dish.

  • Total Time: 30 minutes
  • Yield: 4 servings

Ingredients

2 Yellow Onions, thinly sliced (about 1/28-inch thick)

5 ounces Shredded Parmesan Cheese

1 tablespoon Olive Oil

1/2 teaspoon Sea Salt

1/2 teaspoon Garlic Powder

1/2 teaspoon Smoked Paprika

1/4 teaspoon Black Pepper

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. Using a mandolin or sharp knife, slice the onions very thinly.
  3. Spread shredded Parmesan cheese evenly across the prepared baking sheet to create a base layer.
  4. Arrange onion slices in a single layer over the cheese, avoiding overlap.
  5. Brush the onions lightly with olive oil.
  6. Sprinkle with sea salt, garlic powder, smoked paprika, and black pepper.
  7. Bake for 18–20 minutes, until the cheese is golden and crispy.
  8. Let cool for a few minutes, then break into pieces or cut into chip-sized portions before serving.

Notes

Use mozzarella or cheddar instead of Parmesan for a different flavor profile.

Add cayenne or chili flakes for a spicy kick.

Double the smoked paprika for a deeper smoky taste.

Serve with ranch dressing or garlic aioli for dipping.

Re-crisp in a 350°F (175°C) oven for 3–4 minutes if they soften.
