Marie Rose (or Thousand Island) Sauce is a creamy, tangy seafood dipping sauce that perfectly complements prawns and other seafood. With a balance of mayonnaise, ketchup, Worcestershire sauce, and horseradish, it’s a versatile and easy-to-make addition to any seafood platter.

  • Total Time: 5 minutes
  • Yield: 1 cup (enough for 1-2 servings of prawns)

Ingredients

2/3 cup mayonnaise

1 tbsp ketchup

1 tsp Worcestershire sauce

1 tsp fresh horseradish (or 1.5 tsp jarred)

Dash of Tabasco sauce

Pinch of cayenne pepper

Instructions

  1. In a small bowl, combine mayonnaise and ketchup. Stir until fully blended.
  2. Stir in Worcestershire sauce, horseradish, Tabasco sauce, and cayenne pepper. Mix until smooth.
  3. Taste and adjust seasoning to preference, adding more horseradish or Tabasco if desired.
  4. Serve immediately with prawns or refrigerate for a few hours to allow the flavors to meld together.

Notes

For a spicier sauce, increase the cayenne pepper or Tabasco sauce.

Add fresh herbs like parsley or chives for extra flavor.

Substitute low-fat mayo or Greek yogurt for a lighter version.

For a vegan version, use a plant-based mayo.

Add lemon or lime juice for a citrusy twist.
