Ingredients
1 cup cocoa powder
1 cup white sugar
1/2 cup brown sugar
2 tsp ground ginger
1 tsp ground cinnamon
1/4 tsp ground cloves
1/4 tsp salt
Pinch cayenne pepper (optional)
Instructions
- In a mixing bowl, whisk together cocoa powder, white sugar, brown sugar, ginger, cinnamon, cloves, salt, and cayenne if using, until fully combined.
- Transfer the mix to an airtight container for storage. Stir before scooping when ready to use.
- To prepare hot chocolate, heat 1 cup of milk in a saucepan until just below a simmer.
- Whisk in 2 tablespoons of the gingerbread hot chocolate mix until dissolved and steaming.
- Pour into a mug and serve warm.
Notes
Add nutmeg for extra gingerbread warmth.
Use half-and-half for a richer drink.
Top with whipped cream or marshmallows.
