Ingredients
4 slices of bread (white, whole wheat, or preferred type)
2 tablespoons butter, softened
1 cup shredded cheese (cheddar, mozzarella, or a mix)
Optional: Seasonings such as garlic powder, salt, or pepper to taste
Instructions
- Remove crusts from the bread slices to make them softer for toddlers.
- Gently roll each slice of bread flat using a rolling pin or your hands.
- Sprinkle shredded cheese evenly over each slice, adding optional seasonings if desired.
- Roll up each slice tightly from one end to the other to form roll-ups.
- Heat a skillet over medium heat and melt the softened butter.
- Place the roll-ups seam-side down in the skillet and cook for 2–3 minutes on each side until golden brown and the cheese is melted.
- Allow to cool slightly, then slice into bite-sized pieces before serving.
- Serve with fruit, veggies, or a dip like ketchup or ranch for a balanced meal.
Notes
Roll tightly and start cooking seam-side down to prevent unrolling.
Use whole wheat or multigrain bread for added nutrients.
Try variations with turkey, spinach, or tomato sauce for new flavors.
Reheat in a skillet or toaster oven to retain crispiness—avoid microwaving.
Freeze cooled roll-ups individually for up to 1 month.
