  • Total Time: 35 minutes
  • Yield: undefined

Ingredients

3 lbs sweet potatoes, peeled and chopped

⅓ cup milk, broth, or water (regular or non-dairy milk works)

4 Tbsp salted butter or cooking oil

Salt and pepper, to taste

1 Tbsp fresh thyme, optional

Instructions

  1. Wash, peel, and chop the sweet potatoes. Place them in a pot and cover with water.
  2. Bring to a boil, then reduce to a simmer. Cook for 20–25 minutes, or until tender. Check with a fork.
  3. Drain the water and return potatoes to the pot.
  4. Add milk (or broth), butter (or oil), salt, and pepper. Mash until smooth using a hand masher or electric mixer.
  5. Optional: Sprinkle with fresh thyme and drizzle with melted butter before serving.

Notes

Add roasted garlic for a savory twist.

Use coconut milk and a pinch of cinnamon for a sweet, tropical flavor.

Mix in cream cheese for extra creaminess.

Stir in maple syrup or brown sugar for a sweet side dish.
