Ingredients
3 lbs sweet potatoes, peeled and chopped
⅓ cup milk, broth, or water (regular or non-dairy milk works)
4 Tbsp salted butter or cooking oil
Salt and pepper, to taste
1 Tbsp fresh thyme, optional
Instructions
- Wash, peel, and chop the sweet potatoes. Place them in a pot and cover with water.
- Bring to a boil, then reduce to a simmer. Cook for 20–25 minutes, or until tender. Check with a fork.
- Drain the water and return potatoes to the pot.
- Add milk (or broth), butter (or oil), salt, and pepper. Mash until smooth using a hand masher or electric mixer.
- Optional: Sprinkle with fresh thyme and drizzle with melted butter before serving.
Notes
Add roasted garlic for a savory twist.
Use coconut milk and a pinch of cinnamon for a sweet, tropical flavor.
Mix in cream cheese for extra creaminess.
Stir in maple syrup or brown sugar for a sweet side dish.
